Josie Dangler
Social Work Intern

Connecting with ourselves is a crucial and often overlooked practice. As a student working towards a Master of Social Work Degree, I understand the courage required in taking this step. Starting or continuing therapy is a wonderful way to understand and address your mental health, hardships, and the effects of everyday life. I hope to offer a compassionate and collaborative space that fosters connection and healing.

In therapy, we will work together to set treatment goals and gradually work towards them by putting your strengths first. I aim to understand your environment and I consider how circumstances affect your mental health. I use a trauma-informed and affirming approach to therapy. I will work with you to understand the underlying reasons for your thoughts and feelings, which are essential to challenge when working toward positive change.

My areas of interest include depression, anxiety, eating disorders, grief, and stress. I enjoy working with people of various ages, backgrounds, and identities in the therapeutic space. I base my practice on several modalities including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems. As a master's student, I am always working to better my skills and to attain competency in other modalities.

Building a therapeutic relationship takes trust, time, and effort on both parties. I am committed to my role as a student therapist, which requires believing in your ability to succeed and prioritizing your needs. My supervisor, Emma Coate, will be a consistent resource to ensure that the best care is provided for you.
