The decision to begin therapy, or start with a new therapist, can be intimidating. It can be concerning to think about a potential mis-fit. This is why I work with clients to find the approach to therapy that fits best with their needs and goals and which feels most comfortable for them. I use the tools of various therapeutic styles including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and more.
My goal is to create a warm and accepting environment in which to explore feelings and experiences, while also fostering a collaborative and trusting therapeutic relationship. Coming from a strengths-based perspective, I strive to empower clients to develop their own goals and make their own decisions in our work together.
I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients including older and younger adults, students, and couples. I specialize in work with older adults, helping client's adapt to challenges and to embrace the strengths brought by the experience of aging. In this work, I use a radical acceptance and person-in-environment to guide our sessions together.
I base my work with couples on Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy, which uses an understanding of attachment to help partners better communicate their needs to one another. I also draw from the Gottman Method and Imago Therapy.
